error on 2008-2012 data profile query

I ran the following query (key omitted):

http://api.census.gov/data/2012/acs5/profile?get=NAME,DP02_0076E,DP02_0076M,DP02_0077E,DP02_0077M&for=place:*&in=state:27

and received the following error:

There was an error while running your query. We've logged the error and we'll correct it ASAP. Sorry for the inconvenience.

When I query for only the DP02_0076 variables the query succeeds. The query fails when adding the DP02_0076 variables.

  1. "NAME" is not a valid variable in the get parameter for this this dataset.

Thanks. There appears to be some inconsistency here. The following queries work without issue:

    NAME,DP02_0077E,DP02_0077M

    NAME,DP02_0076E,DP02_0076M

The failure comes when you try to merge those queries:

    NAME,DP02_0076E,DP02_0076M,DP02_0077E,DP02_0077M

Having consistency between the Summary File API and the Data Profile API would be great. The returned "place" is also missing leading zeros from the 5-digit FIPS codes.

If "NAME" is not a valid variable, it would be nice to get a 400 response with an error message like the summary file API.

  3. thanks. I got the same problem but did not know what was going on. It seems that if you limit the variables to 4 including "NAME then the call would go through.
